Three Injured in Head On Crash on Graysville Road

CATOOSA COUNTY, GA- Monday, February 21, 2007 – At about 7:30 AM, the Catoosa County Fire
Department was notified of a head on collision involving two cars in the 2400 block of Graysville Road
which is just south of the Georgia-Tennessee border.  Catoosa County Engine 3, Truck 3 and Rescue
1 responded along with Hutcheson EMS, the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Department and the Georgia
State Patrol.  

Engine 3 arrived to find two vehicles, a Ford Fusion and a Honda, both black in color with the
occupants still inside.  The Ford was resting against a telephone pole facing northbound.  The Honda
was in the southbound lane of travel, facing south.  The Honda had major front end damage as well
as rear end damage.  The Fusion had extensive damage to the front end and also damage to the left
side around the rear wheel.

Occupants of both vehicles had to be extricated with door pops.  The driver of the Ford Fusion, a
female, was treated at the scene and transported by Hutcheson EMS in serious condition.  The two
occupants of the Honda were critically injured and Life Force helicopter was requested.  The
helicopter set down in a field directly adjacent to the accident scene.  After both patients were treated
by medics from Hutcheson EMS, firefighters and medical personnel from Life Force they were
transported to Erlanger Hospital by helicopter.  

The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.  Graysville Road, a
major link between Tennessee and Georgia was shut down for quite a while patients were attended to
and the accident re-created.
