Head On Collision Inures Two in Fort Oglethorpe

FORT OGLETHORPE, GA – At just about 4:00 PM, Tuesday, June 19, 2007, Fort Oglethorpe Fire &
Rescue was dispatched to a head on collision on Dietz Road near the intersection of Daily Hill Road.
Fort Oglethorpe Engine 1 along with 907, Battalion Chief Doug Flury responded.

Chief Flury reported on scene with two vehicles, head on and all parties out of the vehicles.  Engine 1
was close behind and firefighters began patient care.  Angel EMS also responded and paramedics on
board worked with firefighters to prepare the injured for transport.  There was one person in each of
the two vehicles and both were transported by Angel to Erlanger Hospital with one firefighter on board
to assist.  The injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

The vehicles involved were a blue Toyota Tercel and a white Ford Aerostar van.  The Toyota had
been traveling northbound on Dietz Road and the van southbound.  It appeared from the position of
the vehicles that the van crossed the center line and the two vehicles collided head on.  Both vehicles
suffered major front end damage.  It was raining slightly at the time but it is unknown if the weather
played a part in the accident.  The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident.
