Quick Action by Tri Community VFD Saves East Brainerd House

HAMILTON COUNTY, TENN – At 8:09 PM, Wednesday, November 7, 2007, the Hamilton County 9-1-1
Center received a frantic call from a woman stating that her house was on fire.  The Tri Community
Volunteer Fire Department responded to the address of 8733 Crestbrook Circle in the Hurricane Creek
Subdivision.  Once on the scene, firefighters found a 2800 square foot, two story, brick home with fire
visible in a room on the second floor, A/D corner.

Firefighters on Engine 1245 quickly pulled an inch and three quarter line through the front door, did a
primary search and then attacked the fire.  They were able to quickly knock it down before it spread into
other parts of the house.  Although there was some fire damage to the exterior of the house just outside
the room, and smoke and water damage in the remainder of the house, firefighters did an excellent job
of stopping the fire and saving the house.

The homeowner stated that she returned to the house with her son, went up the stairs and noticed fire
in the bedroom.  She grabbed a fire extinguisher and attempted to put out the fire but it had grown too
large and she was unable to do so.  When this attempt proved unsuccessful, she and her son made a
hasty retreat from the house and called 9-1-1.

There were no injuries as a result of the fire.  Hamilton County EMS was on standby on the scene.  The
cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
