SUV vs. Duplex in Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, TENN – Shortly after 7:30 AM, Friday, September 14, 2007, the Chattanooga Fire
Department was dispatched to an accident with injuries involving a vehicle vs. house in the 1700 block
of Citico Avenue.  Engine 5 responded along with medics from Hamilton County EMS and also the
Chattanooga Police Department.

Firefighters arrived to find three vehicles involved by no injuries.  It appears that a white van being used
as a Mercury Cab was being operated on Citico Avenue when the driver fell asleep.  He lost control of
the vehicle at that point and it struck a Ford Taurus and then a GMC Yukon.  The rear of the Yukon
then struck the duplex at 1717 Citico Avenue.

The Chattanooga Building Inspector and Public Works were both called to the scene.  Once the vehicle
had been removed from the house, fire units went back into service and the house was turned over to
the Building Inspector.  The Chattanooga Police Department is investigating the incident.
