Walker County House Destroyed by Fire

WALKER COUNTY, GA – At about 12:15 PM, Friday, November 23, 2007, Walker county Emergency
Services was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 145 Chalet Drive off of Mission Ridge Road.
Engine 5 arrived on the scene to find a single story residence heavily involved in fire.  Firefighters
immediately stretched a line and began to aggressively attack the fire.  As more apparatus arrived at the
scene additional manpower was placed into operation.

The closest hydrant was on Mission Ridge Road well over 1500 feet from the structure.  The second in
engine laid a supply line from the hydrant and then supplied Engine 5 with water.  Unfortunately the fire
had a major jump on firefighters and they were unable to save the structure and its contents.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is under investigation.  The value of the structure is
unknown but it is a total loss.  There was no one at home at the time of the fire and it is unknown if the
house was being lived in.  There were no injuries as a result of the fire.
