Chattanooga Chili Cook-Off

CHATTANOOGA, TENN – The Chattanooga Market was the site for the fifth annual Chattanooga
Firehouse Chili Cook-Off on Sunday, October 21, 2007.  Five different teams representing five of
the city’s firehouses competed for two prizes, the Chef’s Choice Award and the People’s Pick.
The five teams were:
Station 1, “No Hesitation”, chili- High Rise Chili
Station 8, “Boots and Scoops”, chili- Thermal Balance
Station 14, “St. Elmo’s Fire”, chili- Hot Satisfaction
Station 17, “Fire and Brimstone”, chili- Spontaneous Combustion
Station 19, “Hook and Ladle”, chili – Fully Involved

Visitors to the market were given the opportunity to sample each of the five chilis for only $7.50
and then vote for their favorite.  All of the money raised was donated to the Muscular Dystrophy
Association.  At the end of the day, Station 1 again took home the honor for People’s Choice.
This year, unlike the previous year when Station 1 took both awards, they were unseated for the
Chef’s Award by Station 19.  Mayor Ron Littlefield, along with Fire Chief Wendell Rowe,
presented the trophies to each of the stations.

Also present selling t shorts to raise money for MDA, was Firehouse Subs who do a lot of charity
work throughout the community.

Just over $10,000 was raised for this worthy cause.
