Christmas Eve Fire Damages Fort Oglethorpe House

FORT OGLETHORPE, GA – Just minutes after 10:00 PM, Monday, December 24, 2007, Fort
Oglethorpe Fire and Rescue was alerted to a residential fire at 103 Greens Lake Road.  Fort
Oglethorpe Engine 10 and Ladder 1, Assistant Chief Glenn Davis (903), Battalion Chiefs Doug
Flury (907) and Gary McGhee (908) along with East Ridge, Tennessee Engine 1 (automatic mutual
aid) responded.

Battalion Chief Marlin Thompson (906) arrived on the scene and reported light smoke showing.  
Upon commencing his 360 degree walk around he discovered a working fire at the C/D corner of
the house.  East Ridge Engine 1 arrived momentarily and pulled a line into the house.  Firefighters
made a quick knock down on the fire.  The fire was contained to the laundry room of the house,
causing about $5,000 in damage.  

EMS and the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Department were on the scene for assistance.  There were
no injuries due to the fire.  The cause is under investigation at this time.
