| Marietta Fire Works Fatal Accident MARIETTA, GA – At about 8:00 AM, December 18, Marietta Engine 56 along with Metro Atlanta Ambulance responded to the intersection of Cobb Parkway and Bells Ferry Road on a reported accident with injuries. Upon arrival firefighters found a six vehicle accident with ejection. Firefighters assessed the situation and found that the ejected party, who had been operating a green Pontiac was fatally injured. There were no other major injuries due to the accident. Preliminary investigation showed that the Pontiac had been traveling on Bells Ferry Road and was attempting a turn onto Cobb Parkway. The second vehicle involved, a Dodge Charger, was southbound on Cobb Parkway and allegedly ran the red light striking the Pontiac and causing it to hit four other cars. The ejected party was dragged about fifty feet by the moving vehicle before it came to a stop. The Cobb county Police Department is investigating the accident. Cobb Parkway was reduced to one lane in each direction for about three hours while police conducted their investigation. |
