Motorcycle Vs. Car in Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, TENN – At About 8:15 AM, Thursday, November 1, 2007, Chattanooga Emergency
Services was called into action for a motor vehicle accident involving a car and a motorcycle.  The
Chattanooga Police Department, Chattanooga Fire Quint 8 and Squad 3 and Hamilton County EMS
Units 3 and 11 were dispatched to Lee Highway east of Interstate 75 for the wreck.  Callers reported the
motorcycle to be on fire.

Quint 8 and Squad 3 arrived on the scene to find a motorcycle lying in the median on fire and the rider
about 100 feet further down the roadway.  A green Ford Mustang with front end damage was sitting in
the roadway also.  Firefighters from Quint 8 tended to the patient while Squad 3 extinguished the fire.
The motorcycle was completely destroyed.

The rider of the motorcycle, who was the only person hurt in the accident, was suffering from multiple
broken bones, cuts and abrasions as well as possible head trauma.  After being treated on the scene,
firefighters and medics “packaged” the patient and he was transported to Erlanger Medical Center by
Medic 3.

The Traffic Division of the Chattanooga Police Department is investigating the accident.  No official
cause has been given but speed and recklessness on the part of the motorcycle rider are thought to be
contributing factors.
