Training Burn Lights Up the Sky

COLLEGEDALE, TENN -  On Thursday, September 20, 2007, at about 6:30 PM,  firefighters
with the Tri Community Volunteer Fire Department gathered at a house on McDonald Road for
training.  This training was a little different, however, because it meant actually starting a fire
and burning a house to the ground.

Once firefighters stretched lines to ensure the safety of the area around the house and made
sure that everything was secure, it was time to light off the house.  Then it was time to sit back
and watch as the house lit up the evening sky.  It took just over an hour for the house to burn
to the ground.  Then firefighters began the task of ensuring that the fire was completely out.
Once this was done they were back in service waiting for the next “real fire” to put their training
to work.
