Battlefield Parkway Rollover Injures One

FORT OGLETHORPE, GA – Tuesday, July 15, 2008 – At about 12:45 PM, Fort Oglethorpe Fire
and Rescue responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident with rollover on Battlefield Parkway
just west of the intersection of Fant Drive in front of the Chick-fil-A restaurant.

On arrival, firefighters on Ladder 1 found a blue Ford Escort on its top with one person trapped
inside.  A second vehicle involved, a large flat bed truck, was checked and it was determined that
no one inside the truck was injured.  Ladder 1 requested Engine 1 firefighters use cribbing to
stabilize the vehicle and for Rescue 1 to assist by attaching a cable from the winch to the underside
of the car.  Engine 10 provided additional manpower and along with Engine 1 assisted with patient
care and removal.

Fortunately, firefighters were able to place the injured male onto a backboard and slide him out the
passenger side window without having to cut on the vehicle.  Once he was packaged by medics he
was transported to Erlanger Hospital by Angel EMS.  His condition is serious but not thought to be
life threatening.

The accident is under investigation by the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department.
