Highway 58 VFD Battles Heavy Involvement

HAMILTON COUNTY, TENN – Saturday, May 31, 2008 –Just before 2:30 AM, the Highway 58
Volunteer Fire Department was notified of a residential structure fire at 8625 Bramlett Road near
Highway 58.  Firefighters from stations 1 and 2 responded.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a single story wood frame dwelling with heavy fire showing from the
roof and many interior locations.  They immediately pulled a hand line and made an interior attack
in an attempt to save as much of the house as possible.  Other firefighters began looking for a
hydrant in the area but could not locate one close enough to lay a supply line.  When it became
obvious that they would have to use a dump tank and begin shuttle operations, interior operations
were halted for safety reasons until it was clear that enough water was available.

Firefighters worked feverishly on the fire from many angles and eventually resumed interior
operations. Unfortunately the fire had too much of a head start and firefighters were unable to save
the house or its contents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.  There were no reported injuries due to the
fire.  Hamilton County EMS and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.
