Alert 3 at Chattanooga Airport

CHATTANOOGA, TENN – Monday, April 21, 2008 – At about 11:45 AM, an Alert 3 was issued at
the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport.  A small single engine aircraft had landed without landing
gear with one person on board.  Crash trucks from the airport as well as a full response from the
Chattanooga Fire Department responded.  Hamilton County EMS and the Chattanooga Hamilton
County Rescue Squad were placed on stand by.

Firefighters quickly determined that the person on board was uninjured and there was no fire or
any other hazards.  Crash Truck E-6 and Tanker 8 from the Chattanooga Fire Department
remained on the scene while the plane was placed onto a trailer and removed from the runway
without further incident.

It is believed that the landing gear was not down when the plane landed however that could not
be confirmed.  Why it was not down is unknown and the incident will be investigated by the FAA.

Once the plane was removed from the runway operations at the airport were resumed.
