Late Night House Fire in Walker County

WALKER COUNTY, GA – Wednesday, March 26, 2008 – At about 10:05 PM, Walker County
Emergency Services was alerted to a residential house fire at 206 Ivy Street near Highway 27.  
Hutcheson Medic 4 was in the vicinity and arrived within moments reporting fire through the roof
of a single story wood frame dwelling.    

As firefighters arrived on the scene they stretched several hand lines into the front door as well
as around to the B side of the structure and made an aggressive hit on the fire. Additional
firefighters laid a supply line from the corner of Oak Street and Ivy Street.  Unfortunately
firefighters were unable to save much of the 1300 square foot building and it is considered a total
loss.

The homeowner was present when the fire broke out but managed to escape unharmed.  The
origin and cause of the fire are under investigation at this time.  The homeowner is being
assisted by the American Red Cross.  The total loss is estimated at about $65,000.
