Overnight Fire in Harrison Lights up the Sky

HARRISON, TENN – Sunday March 16, 2008 – Just after midnight, the Highway 58 Volunteer Fire
Department responded to a residential house fire in the Lake Crest subdivision overlooking
Harrison Bay.  The first firefighters to arrive reported a single story wood frame with a downstairs
garage heavily involved.

Firefighters quickly pulled hand lines and began an interior attack and established a positive water
source from a hydrant which unfortunately was quite a distance away.  Even though the fire had a
good hold in the attic and had spread to several other places in the house prior to their arrival,
firefighters made an excellent stop on the fire.

The homeowner was not at home when the fire broke out and there were no injuries as a result of
the fire.  The fire is believed to have stated somewhere on the C/D corner but the exact origin is
unknown at this time.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Medics with Hamilton County EMS were on the scene to provide medical care if needed and the
Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department provided assistance as well.  Unfortunately the house did
suffer major damage and is uninhabitable.  Damage is estimated at approximately $100,000.
Firefighters spent about four hours extinguishing the blaze and doing overhaul.
