Quick Work Stops Fire from Spreading in Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, TENN – Saturday, March 08, 2008 – Just after 12:15 PM, the Chattanooga Fire
Department was alerted to a residential structure fire at 4224 Victory Street at Talley Road.  Quint 13,
Engine 5, Engine 15 and Squad 3 responded to the call.

Quint 13 arrived on the scene to find a single story brick duplex with smoke showing and began a
quick attack on the fire.  The next engine company in laid a supply line about 1000 feet from a
hydrant at Tally Road and Kemp Drive.  Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the fire before it
extended much past a room and contents type fire.  

Firefighters spent about an hour and a half ensuring that the fire was extinguished and doing
overhaul.  There were no injuries as a result of the fire.  The cause of the blaze is unknown and is
under investigation.  The Chattanooga Police Department provided assistance on the scene.  A total
damage estimate was not available.
