Quick Knockdown by Highway 58 VFD

HAMILTON COUNTY, TENN – Sunday, February 24, 2008 – At about 6:45 AM, the Highway 58
Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched for smoke in the residence at 4907 Northwind Drive in
Lakeshore Estates.  While en route, firefighters were advised by the dispatched that the
homeowner believed the smoke to be the result of a fire in the heating and air unit on the outside
of the house and that he had the fire out.

Engine 1651 arrived on the scene and reported a two story wood frame dwelling with smoke
showing.  Investigation showed that the heating and air unit was on fire and the fire had extended
into the building and into the crawl space underneath the home. Firefighters stretched a line into
the house through the front door and also to the B side of the structure.  Engine 1642 arrived
and laid a supply line from a hydrant at the corner of Northwind Drive and Shore Manor Lane.

Quick work by firefighters contained the majority of fire damage to the outside unit and walls and
floors adjacent to it.  There was smoke and heat damage throughout the house but firefighters
definitely saved the structure by attacking the fire in the manor they did.  There were no injuries
as a result of the fire.  The fire is under investigation but is believed to be electrical and
accidental in nature.

Hamilton County EMS and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department assisted.
