Catoosa County Makes Super Stop

CATOOSA COUNTY, GA – Saturday, February 09, 2008 – Just after noon, the Catoosa County Fire
Department responded to a reported structure fire at 84 Sandpiper Trail in the Windstone subdivision.

Engine 1 arrived on the scene to find a two story dwelling with a full basement emitting moderate smoke
from the eaves and visible fire venting from the D side of the structure.  Firefighters pulled an inch and
three quarter line from the truck and immediately made access through the front door.  They were met
by heavy black smoke as they opened the door and after making their way inside the house they
located the seat of the fire in a laundry room and quickly knocked it down.  Additional personnel from
Ladder 1 and Quint 3 entered the structure and began operations.

Once the fire was placed under control, the stick from Ladder 1 was placed into operation on the D side
of the structure to assist in the overhaul operations.

The house suffered significant smoke damage throughout but the majority of the fire was contained to
the laundry room and surrounding areas.  The fast response and aggressive attack surely saved the
house from much more significant damage.

Fort Oglethorpe Engine 8 responded and assisted with overhaul.  Hutcheson EMS was on the scene on
standby and the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Department was also present.

No one was at home when the fire broke out and there were no injuries.  The cause of the fire is under
investigation at this time.
