Rollover Injures One in Fort Oglethorpe

FORT OGLETHORPE, GA – Tuesday, January 29, 2008 – At about 9:00 AM, Fort Oglethorpe Fire and
Rescue was dispatched to the 1900 block of Pine Grove Road in reference to a motor vehicle crash with
unknown injuries.  Fort Oglethorpe Engine 1 and Battalion Chief Doug Flury responded.  Chief Flury
arrived and reported one vehicle off the roadway that appeared to have rolled over with the driver still
inside.  Shortly thereafter Chief Flury confirmed entrapment.

When Engine 1 arrived on the scene they set up the hydraulic tools and removed the driver’s door of
the Ford Mustang, allowing firefighters to remove the young male driver.  Angel EMS then transported
the patient to Erlanger Hospital with non life threatening injuries.  It appears that the vehicle left the
roadway, turned onto its side as it struck a tree and then went back down onto its wheels rather than roll
over completely.

The Mustang, which was painted the same colors as a Georgia State Patrol vehicle, had signs on the
rear side windows stating “Get in, sit down, shut up and hold on” which was obviously appropriate in light
of this accident.  The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident.  The Catoosa County Sheriff’s
Department assisted on the scene.
