Rollover Sends One to the Hospital in Fort Oglethorpe

FORT OGLETHORPE, GA – Saturday, January 19, 2008 – Just after 2:30 PM, Fort
Oglethorpe Fire and Rescue was notified of a single vehicle rollover accident in the 4300
block of Boynton Drive near Joe Tike Drive.  Engine 8, Battalion Chief Doug Flury (907)
and Neal Brown (909) responded to the scene.

Upon arrival they found a single vehicle, a Nissan Altima, on its top in the middle of the
street.  The vehicle had struck a wooden electric pole snapping it in half.  The female
driver had self extricated and did not appear to be seriously injured.  She was treated on
the scene by medics from Angel EMS and then transported to the hospital for further
evaluation.

It appears that the vehicle was traveling eastbound on the two lane roadway when it left
the roadway, struck the end of a culvert and flipped over before slicing the pole in half.
The exact cause of the accident is under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.

Traffic at the scene was handled by the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Department.  Boynton
Drive was closed for quite some time while the vehicle was removed and the pole replaced.
