Two Injured in SUV vs. U-Haul in Fort Oglethorpe

FORT OGLETHORPE, GA – Friday, January 18, 2008 – Just before 4:00 PM, Fort
Oglethorpe Fire and Rescue answered the call of a motor vehicle accident with injuries at
the intersection of Battlefield Parkway and Three Notch Road.  

Engine 1 arrived on the scene to find two vehicles involved, a U-Haul Truck and a white Ford
Explorer.  Both vehicles had extensive front end damage and were over 100 yards apart on
the westbound side of the divided roadway.  While firefighters from Engine 1 and medics
from Hutcheson EMS attended to the injured in the Explorer, firefighters from Rescue 1 and
additional medics from another Hutcheson EMS unit took care of those in the U-Haul.  

The occupants of the U-Haul refused transport.  The driver of the Explorer suffered a
broken collar bone and several other injuries.  The passenger complained of chest and
stomach injuries.  Both were transported to Erlanger Hospital.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.  The Catoosa
County Sheriff’s Department assisted on the scene with traffic control.
